WHY MY SESSIONS ARE DIFFERENT {NAPLES FL PHOTOGRAPHER} Apr07

WHY MY SESSIONS ARE DIFFERENT {NAPLES FL PHOTOGRAPHER}...

Whether it’s a modeling shoot for a child looking to break into the business, a family shoot for a vacation or a child’s birthday, or anything else—color is key. I try to emphasize the importance of color in all of my imagery, and I want to find something that pops. That way, clients have a good idea of what to pick for their wardrobe tones. I love to challenge myself by trying to see the things or the environments that are typically overlooked. I like to find spots that most people would walk right past—and in that mundane, I find the most beauty and the most dynamic locations. After all, we as photographers have to look deep and see what others do not, and with a little colors, you can bet we can turn the ordinary into extraordinary with joyful, fun, vibrant images. Take these shots, for example. Just bringing in a yellow chair on the sidewalk or placing bright, vibrant colors in a wardrobe against a blue backdrop on a building can make all the difference in the world—and it helps make your images really stand out! I love the first image because of his genuine smile and the way it captures the “littleness” of his age at this time in his life. And that color works to make his smile pop so you can really appreciate it! This one below has a great smile but also a wonderful environment. I feel like the small blue area of paint on the door behind him as well as on the wood trim would normally go unnoticed, but I wanted to tie it in when I spotted it. Add to that the brown barrel, which is just sort of hum drum until you bring in the colors, and the whole image had texture and a bit of character! I try to make each of my sessions unique, and one of the best ways to do different shoots is to use colors. I want my clients to have different sessions each and every time, no matter if it’s a high school senior, a family, a newborn, or a child model (I work with some Miami and Orlando kids looking to build portfolios and update comp cards for casting calls). Contact me to help look into your world and make your memories shine. I love to find new, more vibrant images and...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENIDI GRACE | PERSONAL POST | SPECIAL NEEDS Jun18

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENIDI GRACE | PERSONAL POST | SPECIAL NEEDS...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENIDI GRACE | PERSONAL POST | SPECIAL NEEDS A “decade” ago today, God allowed this little girl to breathe her first breath of life. Little did I know, when they brought her up to my eyes and allowed me to see her for the first time, just how much she’d change my life. Fifteen months later, we’d learn a partial diagnosis for Kenidi. And although she is “labeled” with these health issues…she’s taught us more in ten years than I’ve ever learned on my own in 37 years of this life. This child has taught me to push harder. She’s taught me and shown me amazing love that is so unbelievably unconditional. She’s taught me an overwhelming amount of patience. She continues to teach me that we are her only advocates-her only voice-and along with our awesome God above, her only protectors. Ten years ago today, I became a mother for the third time and also gained a label…this label…”the parent of a special needs child.” Though there are many days when I wish Kenidi could come home and speak words to me that tell me how her day at school went or how she’s feeling…there are far more days when I wouldn’t change her for the world and am so grateful to be her Mommy. Even though she’s ten…she still seems like our baby girl trapped in a 4 year olds body. And we’ll take that. Whatever we can get. Happy birthday to my beautiful baby girl. Thank you for teaching Mommy such amazing life lessons in your decade here with us so far. We love you to bits and can’t imagine this life without you. HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY KENIDI GRACE! And Happy birthday to my step-mom Cathy too! We love you...

MISS JR. T.E.E.N UNITED STATES – NAPLES, FLORIDA CHILDREN’S MODEL & FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER Apr17

MISS JR. T.E.E.N UNITED STATES – NAPLES, FLORIDA CHILDREN’S MODEL & FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER...

I’ve recently had the honor of working with four different pageant title holders here in Florida. One of those four girls, shown here in these photos, is Miss. Jr. T.E.E.N United States. That’s right friends…Rylie holds that awesome title and she ROCKED our shoot together last week. Uhmmmm…could this child be any more gorgeous??? Uh NO!Rylie is a doll to work with and the camera clearly LOVES her as do I. She is such a pro at this stuff and is so incredibly easy to work with. She requires very little direction when shooting which makes my job E-A-S-Y as pie. Not only do I adore Rylie but her Mom is a sweetheart too. Did I mention that her Mom’s name is “Angie?” Same as mine. Yeap, her Mom pretty much ROCKS. :0)Did someone say fun? See…this is how fun she is…I love it!!!These images are a perfect example of why I love my job and the clients I work with so much. I mean…who wouldn’t love photographing this adorable girl all day long? And yes…there I go again grabbing junk off the streets to incorporate in my images. Any pop of color I can find…I’ll grab it and use it. This construction cone was no exception. It went awesome with Rylie’s 80’s style attire and her pink flip flops.I don’t mind incorporating random signage either. Hey…if it matches and draws out some color…why not, right?Throw in my signature backdrop…some yellow street stripes or a street in general…and wa-lah…we’ve got ourselves a fantastic image. The red stop lights in the background match her sweater and everything. Fun, fun, fun!Thank you sweet Rylie for making this shoot so incredible. I can’t wait to capture you and your beauty again during our studio shoot together at the...

LIGHTING – NAPLES, FLORIDA CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHER Feb29

LIGHTING – NAPLES, FLORIDA CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHER...

I remember when I started out in this business I swore I would never become a “flash” photographer or mess with studio lighting. I loved natural light so much that I let any other type of lighting source intimidate me to the point of convulsions. I’ve since had the opportunity to work with a couple of different lighting mentors and the outcome is simple…I love having a variety of options when working with clients. There was a day when I would have said…natural light or nothing. However, with knowledge comes growth. This image is just a small snippet of a shoot to come. I’ll share more photos later. However, this is sweet Li Li (my friend and fellow photographer, Deb’s daughter). We broke out the big guns (lights) when in Atlanta a few weeks back and had a great session in a nearby field. The skies were very gloomy on this particular night so I was unable to get a ton of “texture” in the skyline. However, this beautiful child more than made up for it. The sky also gave us a nice almost strange glow in color as the sun did set. Fun times for sure. Stay tuned for more to come. PS…This one was an out-take but I thought it fit the bill given today’s date…XOXO,...

MINE | NAPLES, FLORIDA CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHER Feb25

MINE | NAPLES, FLORIDA CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHER...

I got a new light that came in recently and decided I wanted to try it out. It’s been sitting in the box for at lease two weeks since its arrival but I’ve been gone with traveling so much that I haven’t had the chance to take it out and put it to good use. So…yesterday I got a few seconds to do just that. I tried bribing my son and eventually MADE him be the model for my initial set up. Of course he fought me on it but in the end I won. I think I threatened no this, no that, etc. until he finally caved. LOL! I’m such a mean mom. There was a day when that kid used to love getting in front of the camera for me. Now…he is just two weeks shy of officially becoming a teenager and can you ever tell it. UGH!In the end, my oldest only gave me about 5 total minutes of studio time. That included the time it took me to set up my light source and so on. Needless to say, I was very limited. I had to make it happen fast. Because of that, I didn’t get the overall solid ring look in his eyes that I was after but I’ll just have to use it on a client for a trial run in the near future rather than my son. After five minutes, Brennen looked at me all serious and said, “I’m so over this.” The sad thing was…I was suddenly propelled back into my childhood when my own mother used to do the same thing to me with her camera and I’d get so frustrated. So…I released him and made due with what I had. It’s always great fun to...

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY – NAPLES, FLORIDA PHOTOGRAPHER Feb14

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY – NAPLES, FLORIDA PHOTOGRAPHER...

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!The Valentine’s in our house were packaged up & sent off to school without a hitch today. As a photographer, I’ve attached photos with each of my children’s Valentine’s for their classes – for as long as I can remember. Not only is it a cute look for your kiddo’s in an effort to help their Valentine cards stand out but it’s also a good advertisement for business. And yes, I do include my website address somewhere on the card in smaller print. In this case, it’s on the back side of the design. 🙂 I am “that Mom.” LOL! I’m always marketing/networking. Always. You don’t have to be a photographer to do this. If you specialize in another field/career, place that on the back of your kiddo’s Valentine’s next year. Slip in a website address and market whenever and wherever possible. You never know who’s watching or whose hands it might land in. 🙂 In the meantime, I hope your love bug(s) made your Valentine’s Day very special. Give those who melt your heart a HUGE hug today and remind them how much they’re loved. And to all of you…my clients, my friends, my family, my fans, my stalkers…I sure do love you guys! Thanks for always showering me with so much love and support. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.XOXO,...
